While Spider-Punk only appears on the screen for a few short scenes, his role is crucial to Miles Morales' steps towards standing up to the Spider society. He also provides Gwen with a way to help Miles, seemingly knowing how things would end up. We can't wait to see his return in Beyond the Spider-Verse! While his debut was a bit rocky, his acceptance as the new Spider-Man was earned. Nearly ten years after his debut, we saw the debut of Miles Morales in a feature film. The recently released sequel reminds us why Miles is ideally suited to carry on the mantle of Spider-Man. His first appearance is considered to many as the modern-age grail of grails. As its value continues to grow, fans' interest also does. We tracked it at a high sale of $2,026 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $551. #6: THE SICKNESS #1 | UNCIVILIZED COMICS | 2023 | Here's a book that is interesting to see among the rest of the titans on this list. The Sickness is the first issue of a series released just a couple of weeks ago. While all the covers are getting tons of attention, the story of this issue is also generating tons of buzz. The series is set between 1945 and 1955, following two main characters intrigued by an illness that makes people go mad. This black-and-white horror comic has quickly become a ghost, sending the value of this book soaring. Will the popularity hold up for this indy book? We tracked it at a high sale of $25 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $21. #5: VOID RIVALS #1 – DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON – SPOILER (1:100) | IMAGE | 2023 | Now that two iconic '80s properties once again sit under the House of Image, the fans are going to see a lot of crazy things coming. Void Rivals was the beginning of that, establishing the shared Energon Universe, inhabited by the Transformers and G.I. Joe characters. While only the first issue has been released so far, this crossover was a massive hit with fandom, especially with the return of Jetfire. The 1:100 variant is also considered a spoiler variant, making it that much more desirable to collectors. We tracked it at a high sale of $247 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $208. This week's release is set to explore the origin of Spider-Boy and gives us our first piece of information, his identity. While there isn't an immediate recognition of the name (or the face!), this reveal provides even more support for Spider-Boy's longevity. Oscar Isaac did an excellent job portraying the futuristic Spider-Man and the leader of the spider society. Spider-Man 2099 was a perfect antithesis to the morals of Miles. One Spider-Man still holds on to the belief that the future can be changed, while the other stands on the side of destiny and accepts their fate. These are huge differentiating core beliefs and are the divisive driving force between Miguel and Miles. We were lucky enough to see the beginning of the battle, but it looks like it is just getting started. Miles and Miguel are still set to go head-to-head in the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse film. Get ready for more 2099! We tracked it at a high sale of $210 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $23. #2: COYOTES #1 | IMAGE | 2017 | This series debuted in 2017 to little attention. Fast forward to today, and "Selena Gomez and Jordan Peele are developing a series adaptation for Prime Video! The series follows a group of women who take a stand against a legion of werewolves that have been hunting them. The story is a brilliant blend of mythology and modern-day storytelling. Whether picking this up for resale or to read, you are in for a treat. Most lower-priced copies are now gone and have been relisted on the aftermarket for nearly 5x MSRP. This book heated up quickly, and we tracked it at a high sale of $89 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $16. #1: SHE-HULK #3 | MARVEL | 2004 | NOTE: EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #3 – SPIDER-BOY SPOILERS | This may be a product of the market being led astray, the simple act of buying upon a poorly researched Google search or misdirection. In the upcoming release of EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE #3, it's been leaked that Spider-Boy's real name is BAILEY BRIGGS. Your instinct to search for that name associated with Marvel is common sense and an act everyone performs. In that search, a Bailey Briggs DOES exist in the Marvel universe. In fact, he first appears in this issue of She-Hulk #3… hence its sudden traction. However, this Bailey Briggs is a Hammer Aeronautics engineer who's murdered and returns as a ghost to serve as a witness in his murder trial and then sent to spiritual jail after lying under oath on the stand. Based on this, the two Baileys appear to have little to no connection. Keep in mind Dan Slott also wrote this issue of She-Hulk. So, there could be something intentionally misleading here. Her first appearance (amongst several other members) in this issue is still going strong despite no confirmation. We tracked it at a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $39 #6: THE SICKNESS #1 | UNCIVILIZED COMICS | 2023 | Tales of the macabre and the melancholy are indeed experiencing a renaissance as of late. This book falls into that camp, a black-and-white story about a mysterious illness that makes people lose their marbles. Securing a copy within the aftermarket was challenging, hence the price surge. However, many fans were able to secure a copy from Uncivilized's website. As those buyers receive their orders, expect more copies to be listed. This book was all the rage when it was released, amplified by last week's Edge of Spider-Verse #3 revealing his face and full name, Bailey Briggs. Additionally, there's a solicitation for a future solo run, and all signs point to significant plans for the young Mr. Briggs. The movie brought fans back to the character's roots while painfully reminding us that even our heroes are no match for Father Time. This movie drove enough nostalgia to send fans looking for Indy's undervalued first appearance once more. With a fantastic cover and all the elements of our childhood, it's easy to see why we saw this book hit a high sale of $301.56 for a CGC 9.8 and an NM raw FMV of $12. #9: WAR OF THE REALMS: NEW AGENTS OF ATLAS #1 | MARVEL | 2019 | Since early 2020, Agents of Atlas has been rumored to eventually become a part of the MCU. Last month Jennie, a member of a Korean K-Pop group named Blackpink, was rumored to have been offered the role of Luna Snow in an unnamed MCU project. The website, allkpop.com, reported the news and sales of this book took off. However, soon after, Jennie Kim told a Korean news outlet that she had not been in talks with Marvel for any MCU role. We have seen many actors deny rumors in the past, only to find out they were true (we're looking at you, Andrew Garfield!). With nothing but rumors and a denial from Jennie Kim, this book is still selling strong. These sales indicate that many fans hope to see the team enter the MCU sooner than later! We tracked it at a high sale of $95 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $24. #8: THE SICKNESS #1 | UNCIVILIZED COMICS | 2023 | This book is still going strong, trading punches with the likes of Spawn and Spider-Boy! It's admirable to see how well an indy book is doing in the aftermarket. This book's popularity is based on the exceptionally positive reviews it received. No media news pump or key appearances has pushed this to the top. It is simply a great comic book, and people want to read it! We tracked it at a high sale of $27 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $22. #7: ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 | MARVEL | 2011 | Miles Morales is still seeing great sales as the aftermarket is booming with all things Spider-verse. Miles Morales was already a successful character, and his movie was a nice reminder of that fact. He was an excellent successor to take on the mantle of Spider-Man and has been universally loved. The more we see his first appearance make our lists, the more we remember how great it was to be there for his debut in Marvel Comics. We tracked it at a high sale of $1,990 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $398. #6: ALL-STAR SUPERMAN #1 | DC | 2005 | James Gunn has been turning all the gears on the revamp of the DC cinematic universe. We recently got an update that the new Superman and Lois Lane were cast for Superman: Legacy, giving steam to this comic that the film will loosely be based on. We tracked it at a high sale of $175 for a CGC 9.8 and a current NM FMV of $8. #5: SPAWN #1 | IMAGE | 1992 | Per Blumhouse, the Spawn movie is in production and has an estimated release date! Despite Jaime Foxx's uncertain health status and years of production and post ahead of it, fans are clearly excited to see that the film is moving forward! We tracked it at a high sale of $182.50 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $33. #4: SPIDER-MAN #7 – HUMBERTO RAMOS – TOP SECRET SPOILER | MARVEL | 2023 | Have you heard about Spider-Boy? This may be the first time we have written about him (sarcasm). Since his reveal three months ago, Spider-Boy has consistently remained on either the Top Ten or Runner-Up lists. His rate of sale has tapered off a bit but still not enough to take him off of our top contenders. Keep on swinging' Bailey Briggs! We'll see you next week! We tracked it at a high sale of $146.50 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $41. #3: HULK ANNUAL #1 – GARY FRANK – REGULAR | MARVEL | 2023 | After so many books being in the spotlight due to news and rumors, it is nice to see a book trending due to fan love. This book introduces a new character to Hulk's story, The Eldest. Solicitations for INCREDIBLE HULK 2, releasing in late July, demonstrates that The Eldest is a major player in the war between Hulk and the Mother of Horrors. The solicitation reads, "The Mother of Horrors demands her freedom! And in order to make it happen, her most dutiful servant – a terrifying monstrosity who calls herself the Eldest – seeks to reclaim that wayward son of monsters: the Hulk himself." Is that enough for you to buy into this issue? It definitely was enough for many as we tracked it at a high sale of $40 for an NM+ raw copy and a raw NM FMV of $19. #2: SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992 | Miguel O'Hara was a major fan favorite even before his spectacular debut in Across the Spider-Verse. His popularity transcended comic fans and crossed over to movie fans, who first ever saw this Spider-Man in cinemas. What keeps Miguel O'Hara on our top lists is that this key issue is affordable and easy to find. It also has a sick cover. We'll continue to see this comic book perform well as we anticipate O'Hara's second cinematic appearance. We tracked it at a high sale of $172.38 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $21. #1: STAR WARS: DOCTOR APHRA #33 – DAVID MARQUEZ | MARVEL | 2023 | This book isn't a key issue, retailer incentive, or store exclusive, and there aren't any new rumors about Aayla Secura in any live-action-projects. Her death was retconned in the previous issue, allowing her to return to the spotlight on this gorgeous cover. Copies of this issue began to hit the aftermarket at breakneck speeds, seeing an immediate increase in demand and value. We're less than a week out from the debut of this cover, and we tracked it at a high sale of $25 for a raw copy.

MLP has a ton of fans, and when a new character is introduced, they take notice. Meet Violette Rainbow, a crafting protege and new member of the group. Fans are here for this 1:10 variant from Justasuta that features the character in her element, sprawled out with all her crafting goodness! We tracked it at a high sale of $70 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $45. #8: HULK ANNUAL #1 – GARY FRANK – REGULAR | MARVEL | 2023 | The love this book is receiving is very reminiscent of the love of Immortal Hulk when it debuted. Just genuine fanfare, and it's awesome! Moreover, this book introduces The Eldest, a major player in the war between Hulk and the Mother of Horrors. The prospect of the Emerald Monster versus the Mother of Horrors has many fans grabbing anything they can in preparation, and that includes this book. We tracked it at a high sale of $28 for an NM+ raw copy and a raw NM FMV of $16. #7: UNCANNY X-MEN #266 | MARVEL | 1990 | Rumors are swirling that Channing Tatum will finally be portraying Gambit in Deadpool #3. Keep in mind, it is currently a rumor, but that hasn't stopped the community from revitalizing the age-old debate of which book he first appeared in. Currently, CGC recognizes this book as his first appearance, but the community is not so easily convinced anymore! We tracked it at a high sale of $760 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw VF FMV of $161. #6: STAR WARS: DOCTOR APHRA #33 – DAVID MARQUEZ | MARVEL | 2023 | This book initially wasn't considered a key, but fans are taking a closer look as it features the first cameo of Starweird. While they aren't named explicitly, people love new characters across the gamut of Star Wars comics. That, and this issue features Aayla Secura front and center, whose death was retconned in the previous issue. This opened a can of worms in the aftermarket that's still going strong! We tracked it at a high sale of $27 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $20. #5: ELEKTRA: THE MOVIE #1 | MARVEL | 2005 | Many may forget, but Elektra appeared in the Ben Affleck Daredevil and later got her own spin-off film. It was critically and commercially panned, but hey, the nostalgia is flowing these days. Per the Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Garner is set to return as Elektra for the upcoming Deadpool 3. This news has caused the comic adaptation of the film to surge into the spotlight once again, a book that few saw coming! We tracked it at a high sale of $22 for a raw copy and a VF FMV of $9. #4: SPIDER-MAN #7 – HUMBERTO RAMOS – TOP SECRET SPOILER | MARVEL | 2023 | Geez, there is just no getting away from Spider-Boy! Since his debut, he has consistently appeared on either this list or our Runner Up list. But why? A chunk of the community loves him for his relation to the Spidey family, while another loves the mystery behind the character, and yet another loves the potential he holds. Will he be the next Miles? Or will he fall flat and become a forgotten gimmick? If the numbers are to be believed, he's more than just a gimmick, but we're all holding on for the ride! We tracked it at a high sale of $130 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $38. #3: X-MEN ANNUAL #14 | MARVEL | 1990 | We touched on it already, but the community is grabbing the rumor that Channing Tatum is set to play Gambit and running with it. Thus, the age-old argument of which book he first appeared in rears its head. As mentioned, CGC recognizes UNCANNY X-MEN #266 as his first appearance, yet he has much more than a cameo in this book, appearing in 15 panels across 9 pages and is even name-dropped. The confusion arises because this book was released before #266, yet the events within take place after those in #266. It was ultimately supposed to be released before the annual, but a printing issue created a delay. It's all quite confusing and, at this point, comes down to preference. But the debate still rages and will continue until it's settled once and for all! We tracked it at a high sale of $225 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $40. #2: SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992 | Across the Spider-Verse has taken the spotlight as the #1 summer blockbuster. Spider-Man 2099 was the beloved newcomer of the film (along with many others) and has quickly become the face of this latest installment. Fans have been scouring the internet in search of this book where he features so prominently on the cover. Luckily, it's plentiful and cheap! We tracked it at a high sale of $230 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $22. #1: EXTREME VENOMVERSE #4 – TAKASHI OKAZAKI (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023 | By all accounts, fans are loving this series so far. It's been highly rated and sought after. Add a few first appearances to the mix, and you have a hot book! This issue features the debut of Venom-Noir, plant-based symbiote Flora, and a manga version of Venom in Necroko. Well, this 1:25 variant from Okazaki features Necroko front and center, and it has been the pick of the litter for fans. Hundreds of articles (okay, maybe tens of) discuss her power/abilities compared to other Avengers. Has G'iah become the strongest character in the MCU? Even if she isn't, her longevity in the MCU has been cemented, and fans are ready to collect her first appearance. We tracked it at a high sale of $130 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $14. #9: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #25 – J. SCOTT CAMPBELL – 2023 SDCC – PHOTO BOOTH SECRET COVER (LIMITED 2000) | MARVEL | 2023 | What an interesting book. This issue was long advertised to be the big reveal of what happened between MJ and Peter. The story takes you through a roller coaster of emotions and is done quite well. However, most of this series issues remain at FMV, while some retailer incentives have dropped in value. Why is this particular issue so valuable and desired? J. Scott Campbell is one of the most prominent artists in the comic industry. His covers are already highly collectible, let alone being a convention exclusive with a secret reveal. Additionally, this book was limited to a sizeable 2000 copies. Once these start hitting CGC, it will be interesting to see how many 9.8s will be selling at a premium! For now, we tracked it at a high sale of $150 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $101. #8: SPAWN #1 – PUPPETEER LEE – 2023 SDCC | IMAGE | 2023 | Once again, Spawn makes it to the top, and— wait, your eyes do not deceive you—this is an entirely new cover. SPAWN #1 is already one of the best-selling comic books in history, as we readily see every time we feature it on our top lists. Puppeteer Lee delivered an epic remastered cover of Spawn, and it took off at this year's SDCC. We tracked it at a high sale of $275 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $95. #7: BIKER MICE FROM MARS #1 | MARVEL | 1993 | Let's Rock n Ride! If you're a 90s kid, you likely grew up in the age of anthropomorphic heroes: Mighty Ducks, S.W.A.T. Kats, Street Sharks, Extreme Dinosaurs, and, of course, Biker Mice from Mars! The Biker Mice are making a return to the new age, thanks to none other than Ryan Reynolds. The hype is real; fans are picking up copies of this first issue to refresh their memories. We tracked it at a high sale of $300 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw VF FMV of $20. #6: THE INCREDIBLE HULK #2 – LEINIL FRANCIS YU (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023 | Here's an interesting addition to our list. THE INCREDIBLE HULK #2 was released this past week and quickly became a top-selling comic. Why? Well, this issue is a key issue with the first appearance of Sister Sadie. Sister Sadie is depicted as this zombie corpse cult leader in a remote town. Following a series of misfortunes, Sadie has her followers sacrifice Bruce on an altar. Unfortunately for her, she realizes that she has encountered a "fractured son." Bruce transforms into Hulk, and the rest is left to the next issue. The story is well-written, and the artwork is phenomenal. The debut for this villain was quite strong, enough for fans to begin collecting the retailer incentive of her first appearance. We tracked it at a high sale of $79.19 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $52. #5: SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992 | There is no special 2023 SDCC re-release of this issue. There is no new information about Miguel or Beyond the Spider-Verse. Spider-Man 2099 is just that cool; he was cool this whole time. Although this book sometimes falls a few spaces, it always bounces back up and remains a consistent member of our top ten and runner-ups. We tracked it at a high sale of $189 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $21. #4: TRANSFORMERS #1 – 2023 SDCC | IMAGE | 2023 | The bridge between the Transformers and G.I. Joe has been created in VOID RIVALS #1! With the Transformers now in a shared universe, the Autobots are in a good place for renewed interest in the property. The release of Transformers: Beast Wars has also sparked even more interest in the robots in disguise. What makes this issue so unique? Well, fans received a treat with the release of an exclusive SDCC cover. Within days, this book became a highly coveted collector's item. We tracked it at a high sale of $125 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $85. #3: DAREDEVIL #14 | MARVEL | 2016 | While DAREDEVIL #11 is the first appearance of The Muse, this issue is the first cover appearance of the villain. Additionally, this copy is moving at about the same FMV as the first appearance for an NM raw copy. We tracked it at a high sale of $29.99 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $25. #2: BATMAN: GARGOYLE OF GOTHAM #1 – ASHCAN | DC | 2023 | While this series doesn't release for another couple of months, fans of The Dark Knight can preview the story with this "one per store" ashcan. GARGOYLES OF GOTHAM will be Rafael Grampa's DC writing debut. The series is touted to explore the darkest side of Batman. According to the synopsis, Batman has chosen to kill off his alter ego and embrace being Batman full-time. This leads to a confrontation with an all-new rogues gallery of deranged villains. It looks like a wild ride is in store, and everyone is seeking a sneak peek into the storyline! We tracked it at a high sale of $90 for an NM+ raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $35. #1: DAREDEVIL #11 – RON GARNEY | MARVEL | 2016 | Every week, we see the power of rumors and speculation on the value of books. Daredevil is not immune to these swings in the market. With the release of Daredevil: Born Again on the horizon, rumors are beginning to circulate. One of the biggest rumors was the reveal of one of the series's villains, The Muse. The Muse is a sadistic and deadly villain who uses his victims' body parts to create his deranged forms of art. This rumor, if true, confirms two things. First, the Disney+ series will remain faithful to the tone of the Netflix series (after all, The Muse is a truly demented and brutal killer). Second, the series would see Wilson Fisk running for Mayor. The Muse's second run-in with Daredevil was during the election of Wilson Fisk and during the anti-vigilantism rhetoric that Fisk was using to win over the public. Until the rumor is confirmed, fans will just have to have fun speculating on Daredevil's return! We tracked it at a high sale of $65.80 for an NM+ raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $29.
