MOONSTONE BOOKS FOR JULY

KOLCHAK TALES: NIGHT STALKER OF THE LIVING DEAD #3

Written by Chris Mills, art by Tim Hamilton, cover by Dave Aikins.

One more small town that thought "it couldn't happen here" is overrun with the animated corpses of men and... pigs? Hey, zombies are zombies, and they're everywhere! Carl Kolchak just wants to finish his story before lunch, especially since he's on the menu! Just what is the terrible secret behind this little farm town?

32 pages, $3.99.

JESSE JAMES VS. MACHINE GUN KELLY

Written by Alex Ness and Michael May, art by Joel Vollmer.

A Moonstone Wild West Event. "Dust 2 Dust." Jesse James has survived an assassin's bullet and the long arm of the law. Now a deranged man of the cloth, people are paying attention to his fervent fire and brimstone! Born under a bad sign, outlaw Machine Gun Kelly steamrolls into town, a scorched earth in his wake, and he's ready to slash and burn for kicks.

The incendiary-thermite of two psychopaths in one small town only lights the fuse to an explosive conflagration...and one blazing holy war, where there are no laws, just Old Testament fiery curses. See who's not roasting when the dust clears!

32 pages, black and white, $3.50.

WILD WEST TRIPLE FEATURE TPB

Written by Chuck Dixon, Mark Ricketts and Len Kody, art by Dennis Calero, Steve Buccellato, Enrique Villagran and Matt Camp, cover by Sergio Cariello.

A Moonstone Wild West event! Three western legends in three complete tales.

Wyatt Earp is the town's new Marshall, and it doesn't take him long to get on the bad side of brutal cowboys used to doing things the outlaw way...and now only Doc Holliday and the Masterson brothers stand between Wyatt and a marker on his head!

Belle Starr recounts her life's story. From debutante to debaucher, she's a woman driven to the outlaw life by too much hunger and too many bad men. Moving from place to place, a life full of wandering and adventure, she hints at her most personal demon...and how she was forced to meet her past and either fight it or die trying!

The Cisco Kid is chasing the Brujera on a road that leads straight into a trap set by a Texas Ranger and his cunning Indian partner. But the road to fire and brimstone is full of distractions, from a mysterious and alluring woman whose motives are shrouded in dreams, to the father of his murdered girlfriend--a powerful Shaman who will step from the fires of the abyss to stake his own claim on Cisco's life!

240 pages, $23.95.

* Belle Starr -- a rough-and-tumble outlaw, she's hell-bent on finding her lost fiancé...and she'll gun down anyone who gets in her way!

* Annie Oakley -- she's on the trail of her kidnapped husband...and the men she's after are about to learn a bloody lesson from one of history's deadliest shots!

WYATT EARP VS. THE CISCO KID

Written by Chuck Dixon, art by Enrique Villagran, cover by Kalman Andrasofszky.

A Moonstone Wild West event.

There are two sides to every story...and Moonstone shows you them both!

Two different perspectives on the same wild west story action! Wyatt vs Cisco and Cisco vs Wyatt will ship on the same day!

They called them gunslingers when these mythic men rode the west over a century ago. Movies and dime novels gave them white hats and black hats, but the truth lies somewhere in between. On October 27th, 1880, Wyatt Earp arrested William "Curly Bill" Brocious for shooting the Tombstone town Marshal. But on the way to trial, some tell of a dangerous encounter with a mysterious outlaw called the Cisco Kid. Did the paths of these two legendary gunslingers cross somewhere in the southwest? If so, whose side of the story should we believe? Myth meets history in this fantastic Western showdown!

32 pages, $3.99.

The Complete Terry and the Pirates, Vol. 4—1941 – 1942

Milton Caniff (w/a)

America’s premiere adventure comic strip thunders to its pre-War crescendo in an October, 1941 storyline so powerful, creator Milton Caniff was forced to take to the radio airwaves to explain why he chose to shock the nation with the death of a major character. In the 1942 strips, the World War drives Terry Lee to join the military, where he meets nurse Taffy Tucker and Army flight instructor Flip Corkin, then gets into plenty of trouble investigating a spy ring! And then there’s the women—the strong, beautiful and independent Caniff women. . . .
IDW Publishing’s Library of American Comics has collected over 700 newspaper strips, including more than 100 Sunday pages restored to their original luster, in this pivotal volume in the Terry and the Pirates saga. With a biographical essay by Bruce Canwell and an introduction by Jerry Robinson. The fourth in a six-volume series edited by Dean Mullaney.
“The greatest adventure comic strip ever done—a genuine masterpiece.” —Howard Chaykin
HC w/ dustjacket • 8.5” x 11” • FC & B&W • 352 pages, with index • $49.99 • ISBN: 978-1-60010-195-3

WARREN ELLIS' AETHERIC MECHANICS GN

By Warren Ellis and Gianluca Pagliarani.

The newest addition to Warren Ellis' Apparat line of original graphic novels has arrived! The year is 1907, and Britain has entered into a terrifying war with Ruritania, whose strange metal planes darken the skies, and whose monstrous war engines cast looming shadows from across the channel. Doctor Robert Watcham, lately returned to London from the front, makes his homecoming to Dilke Street. There lives his old friend, and England's greatest amateur detective, Sax Raker. Even as his beloved city prepares for war, Raker is himself about to embark on the strangest, and perhaps the most important, investigation of his career -- the case of the man who wasn't there. This is no simple matter of murder; Sax Raker faces haunting questions to which there are no cut-and-dried answers. Is the mysterious killer, at last, evidence for Raker's long-held belief in a secret criminal mastermind? Is it some apparition uniquely belonging to this singular city, a place that seems to have lost all semblance of sense two years ago? Or do all the signs point to something much, much worse? This may very well be the last case for our Raker: a spinning tale of mystery, a tangled story of science, a twisting account of thwarted love, a fleeting glimpse into the aetheric mechanics of the world itself -- and, of course, death.

NO HERO #0

By Warren Ellis and Juan Jose Ryp.

An exciting new universe that explodes into action in this zero chapter. In 1966, a group of superhumans emerged in San Francisco, guided by the man whose unique new drugs gave them their incredible powers. Calling themselves The Levellers, this unified front stood against street crimes and corruption, in defense of their city against any and all assault. Years have passed, and we fast-forward through the tumultuous events of those early years to today, where the idealistic Levellers have gone through four incarnations to become The Front Line. But the team is not the only thing that's advanced over the years, and there are no easy victories when their luck finally begins to run out! This #0 issue is not a preview, it features the essential first chapter of the story and is available with a Regular or Wraparound cover by Ryp, as well as a rare 1-in-15 Design Sketch Edition featuring the initial character designs by Ryp.

16 pages, $1.

ANNA MERCURY #4

By Warren Ellis and Facundo Percio.

Well, it certainly did seem like a job well done, and she thought she'd won this round. Anna Mercury returns home, secure in the success of her mission and believing she has saved Sheol from New Ataraxia's awesome weapon, The Cutter. Unfortunately, she was wrong. Anna and her command have underestimated how severely damaged the societies are, and she must now return to that mad and beautiful world to prevent the cities' mutually assured destruction! This issue is available with a regular cover by Paul Duffield, a wraparound by Juan Jose Ryp, a painted cover by artist Felipe Massafera, and also a rare 1-in-15 Design Sketch Edition featuring the initial character designs by Percio.

DOKTOR SLEEPLESS #9

Doktor Sleepless begins its second season! It may be that the good Doktor has pushed the city too far. People are sick. People are dying. But, then again, maybe nobody in Heavenside minds, right? Well, not the nice people in Central, behind the pay-cop barrier. But what do you suppose will happen when it turns out that an invisible barrier won't stop all the nice peoples nice things from falling apart, too? The issue is available with a regular cover by series artist Ivan Rodriguez, wraparound cover by Raulo Caceres, and also a rare 1-in-15 Future Warning Sign cover.

32 pages, $3.99.

GRAVEL #5

By Warren Ellis, Mike Wolfer and Oscar Jimenez.
