Schmidt illustrates a beautiful Black Canary cover that fans are all hunting down! We tracked it at a current raw NM FMV of $154. #9: WOLVERINE #36 – RYAN STEGMAN – REGULAR | MARVEL | 2023 | Behold, an indestructible rage mutant, meets the spirit of vengeance! A force has never been so terrifying as that of the Hellverine. This book was hyped up before its release and nearly flew off the shelves when it debuted. The second print retailer incentives (1:25) are already reaching $70 for preorders! Most LCS are out of this book already, so your best bet at getting a copy will be in the aftermarket. Good luck finding this character's debut! We tracked it at a high sale of $170 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM FMV of $22. Find on eBay | Find on MCS #8: BATMAN #609 | DC | 2002 | Back in 2022, a promotional website for The Batman had users solve puzzles that the Riddler had posted, with a video of Thomas Wayne's campaign promotions. The solved riddles unlocked this video, quickly flashing HUSH words across the screen. Fast forward to today, a recent interview with The Hot Mic with Jeff Sneider and John Rocha was very cryptic about Hush being the next villain. This was hardly a confirmation but rather more fuel to the already-established rumor. Nevertheless, this was enough fuel for fans to track down the first appearance of Thomas Elliot (who would later become the villain Hush). We tracked it at a high sale of $175 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $39. Find on eBay | Find on MCS #7: TRANSFORMERS #1 – IAN BERTRAM – FOIL (1:100) | IMAGE | 2023 | In July, Image released a TRANSFORMERS #1 ashcan edition that took SDCC by storm. The series' first issue was released three months later, and this retailer incentive 1:100 foil cover is just as popular! If you recall, the Transformers are now in a shared universe with G.I. Joe, a huge surprise to most. This also marks the premiere issue of an ongoing Transformers run at Image. If the 1:100 ratio cover is too far out of reach, try going for a 1:50 cover, which is also seeing heat! For the 1:100, we tracked it at a high sale of $180 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $137. #6: THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #1 – MARTIN SIMMONDS – COVER A | IMAGE | 2020 | It's old news that THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH was headed to Netflix in 2021. Due to extenuating circumstances, the writer's strike most recently halted production. There has been little news since then. This past week, rumors started floating around that Tynion himself had confirmed that the Netflix series was moving forward and was back in production. This came directly via his 9.26 Newsletter, where he stated, "Martin and I were coming up on what we knew was going to be a brief sabbatical on Department of Truth while I worked on the Television adaptation (which I'm excited to get back into now that it looks like the WGA strike is over." When you read that, there is no confirmation of continued traction on the project. Yet, the internet twisted his words a bit and ran with it. Recently, Tynion did return to 'X' (the site formally known as Twitter) after a one-month hiatus. This return was to promote a new 'bootleg' variant of THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH #1, which may have also helped spike a slight interest in this first print. We tracked it at a high sale of $85 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $16. #5: WOLVERINE #37 – GREG CAPULLO – VIRGIN (1 PER STORE) | MARVEL | 2023 | Legendary modern-day artist Greg Capullo illustrates a Wolverine that leaps off the page. What makes this book so hard to find is that it was a thank you from distributors to retailers, and stores with a Diamond account and a Penguin Randomhouse account likely received copies from both. Nevertheless, this book sped from retailer shelves and vanished into the aftermarket. Tracking one down in the wild might be difficult. However, we still see many selling very well on eBay. We tracked it at a high sale of $858 for a raw copy and a current NM FMV of $64. #4: X-MEN #130 – NEWSSTAND | MARVEL | 1980 | This book has a lot going for it. It is not only the first appearance of Dazzler but also the first appearance of Sebastian Shaw and the 2nd appearance of Kitty Pryde and Emma Frost. However, this week, we have seen a resurgence of Dazzler books, thanks to footage from a Kansas City Chiefs football game. Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy (Deadpool 3 director) were in attendance at this game. Joining them, most importantly, was Taylor Swift. While no other new rumors have surfaced, this was enough to spark a renewed interest in the Dazzler rumors! We tracked it at a high sale of $600 for a CGC 9.6 and a current raw FN FMV of $81 as copies flood and stay on the market. #3: CYBERPUNK 2077: TRAUMA TEAM #1 | DARK HORSE | 2020 | Nothing will send a book into the spotlight like news that a live-action project is in the works. Last week, CD Projekt Red announced that the popular video game would soon be in production. However, whether this was to be a movie or a television series was not clarified. The showrunners are a company named Anonymous Content. They are the creators behind shows like Mr. Robot and True Detective, making it more likely that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a series. This first issue in the series is making waves, likely due to its relevance to the movie and its affordability as a key comic. We tracked it at a high sale of $91 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $16. #2: SPAWN #1 | IMAGE | 1992 | This book is consistently moving through the top 20 lists every week. There is rarely a week where we aren't writing about Spawn, and for good reason. It is hands down one of the most affordable, most popular, and reasonably found books in the aftermarket. Additionally, Call of Duty released its 6th season this past week, containing 8 Spawn skins, including Al Simmons and the Violator in his true form. This exposure has sent Spawn to the top of the aftermarket list! We tracked it at a high sale of $180 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $29. #1: DAZZLER #1 | MARVEL | 1981 | This book continues to dazzle its way up the charts! Last Monday, Taylor Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game with her friends. Need more exciting news? Well, what if we said her friends were Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), and Shawn Levy (Deadpool 3 director)... now it gets interesting! Of course, it is important to remember that Taylor Swift is good friends with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Ryan Reynolds is good friends with both Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy… So, it's likely that this is simply a group of friends all hanging out with each other and having a good time. Or, we can speculate that this must be confirmation that Dazzler will appear in Deadpool 3! In that panel, it was announced that Duke will appear in TRANSFORMERS #2 and that the Energon Universe occurs before the G.I. Joe and Cobra organizations have been formed. This is not a prequel, and the Energon Universe is chronological. According to Skybound, this is like the MCU before the Avengers assembled. In this continuity, G.I. Joe and Cobra don't exist yet, and we get to explore how they came to be. This shared universe has reinvigorated swaths of the community, and this book is the epitome of that excitement. We tracked it at a high sale of $100 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $87. #9: TRANSFORMERS #1 – IAN BERTRAM – FOIL (1:100) | IMAGE | 2023 | *SPOILERS* | As Transformers heat continues, the new solo title from Image and Skybound debuted recently with a slew of fantastic variants from SDCC and NYCC. The crossover universe of Transformers and later GI Joe that began in Void Rivals is taking the community by storm. Many opt to secure the highest ratio variants possible, including this 1:100 foil. The first graded copies are hitting the market and fetching a tidy sum, but raw copies can still be cheaper to obtain. With the brutal death of Bumble Bee going down and this cover sporting his decapitated head, it's no wonder fans were after it! We tracked it at a high sale of $380 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $177. #8: BATMAN AND ROBIN #2 – LESLEY LEIRIX LI (1:25) | DC | 2023 | The Hush storyline is considered one of the best to come out of any modern Batman title. Fans have wanted a follow-up for years, and this issue may be on the verge of something. We got a tease of Shush in issue #1, but this book marks the first full appearance. This 1:25 from Leirix Li was the one fans were after, as it featured the only cover sporting a solo Shush. We tracked it at a high sale of $47 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $38. #7: LOBO #1 | DC | 1990 | The rumors of Jason Mamoa cast as Lobo are permeating the community again, sending the first issue of his first solo series through the roof. We still haven't received a firm confirmation, but Mamoa as Lobo has been trending for so long that it feels true at this point. There have been hints galore like Co-CEO James Gunn posting a picture of Lobo to his Mastodon (a decentralized social media service) account and Mamoa's non-committal answer regarding whether he would play the character. That pairs with the recent dramatic rumors surrounding Aquaman 2 AND the confirmation that none of the DCEU actors will reprise their roles in the DCU. This book has fans excited, not to mention it is much easier on the wallet! We tracked it at a high sale of $153 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw VF FMV of $10. #6: TRANSFORMERS #1 – DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON & MIKE SPICER – 2023 NYCC – EBAY/ BIG CLUTCH – FOIL (LIMITED 1000) | IMAGE | 2023 | *SPOILERS* | Shawn "Big Clutch" Kirkham lived up to his name by coming in clutch with an eBay exclusive at NYCC that's shaking the aftermarket! While it was amongst 63 other foil books that took NYCC by storm, this was one of the few key books available at the convention, featuring the permanent death of fan-favorite Bumble Bee (as noted during the Energon panel at NYCC). This series is playing for keeps, and one collector did so as well with the purchase of a CGC 10.0 at a massive $1,119! That's an impressive sale and points to the hype this series is garnering. We tracked the current raw NM FMV at $113. #5: SPAWN'S UNIVERSE SAMPLER #1 – DEXTER SOY – NYCC SPAWN UNIVERSE PANEL – SIGNED – RED INK (LIMITED 250) | IMAGE | 2023 | What would a Top Ten or Runner-Up list be without a Spawn appearance? The Toddfather was unable to attend NYCC due to his son getting married (Congratulations!). Subsequently, he offered attendees this signed sampler book, limited to 250 copies. It immediately became a coveted book and made those who could snag a copy VERY happy! We tracked it at a high sale of $550 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $444. #4: DAZZLER #1 | MARVEL | 1981 | Like the Mamoa/ Lobo rumors, Taylor Swift as Dazzler in Deadpool 3 has been going strong for so long that, at this point, fans expect it to be true. Thanks to her recent appearances at NFL games and incredibly successful music tour and movie release, she's been all over the media. While this book isn't Dazzler's first appearance, it does mark the debut of her first solo series AND the first direct-only book Marvel ever released. It appears to be the book fans opt for, as it's much more accessible. We tracked it at a high sale of $115 for a CGC 9.6 and a current raw VF FMV of $13. #3: THE OMEGA MEN #3 | DC | 1983 | This book was popping up when rumors initially floated around that Jason Mamoa would appear as Lobo in Superman: Legacy. Nothing was confirmed (and still technically hasn't), but the market is again zeroing in on this book as the rumors begin to rage. The troubles behind Aquaman 2, the confirmation no DCEU actors would return for their roles in the DCU, and the most recent information circulating that the official casting of Jason Mamoa as Lobo will occur in early 2024. Cue the run on the first appearance of Lobo, leading us to track it at a high sale of $395 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $83. #2: AMERICAN PSYCHO #1 – RANDALL BRUDER – BUSINESS CARD (1:10) | MASSIVE | 2023 | Tis the season for classic slasher IPs. It's the perfect time for American Psycho to make a resurgence, and Massive knocked it out of the park with this brilliant business card variant. Its incredible heat on the aftermarket also helped spike this cover's metal and foil convention versions to reach astronomical prices. Though, this 1:10 is no consolation prize as it continues to increase in value. Issues #2 and #3 will also feature business cards from other "American Psycho" characters. These will be popular for a very long time. We tracked it at a high sale of $50 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $43. #1: DUKE #1 – ASHCAN – COBRA COMMANDER – 2023 NYCC – EBAY – SPOT FOIL (LIMITED 1000) | IMAGE | 2023 | *SPOILERS* | Robert Kirkman is a master world builder who has focused those skills on developing the new Energon universe. One of the most popular characters from the franchise, Duke, is getting a brand new limited series in December. Yet, Skybound sent two flares for the upcoming title that were met with HIGH demand at the recent NYCC. This book was one of them, not only featuring Duke in a brand new shared universe but was amongst 63 exclusives at the convention to feature a foil cover at the convention. Aside from the pretty cover, this book also featured a preview of the upcoming Cobra Commander #1. Those who wanted a copy had to purchase it through eBay and could only pick it up at the convention at the eBay booth. However, additional copies were also provided via the eBay live-streaming service for those unable to attend the convention. Aftermarket copies are escalating in value, with all those initial sales now complete. We tracked it at a high sale of $89 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $84 (and climbing).

Fans were already hyped for the debut of the Hellverine, so much so that the books flew off the shelves upon release! The Hellverine is in demand, and this book continues to see consistent aftermarket sales. Good luck tracking this one down! We tracked it at a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM FMV of $24. #9: GARGOYLES #1 – NEWSSTAND | MARVEL | 1995 | For those 90s kids, Gargoyles was a staple of Saturday morning cartoons. Unlike other Disney shows that populated the line-up, Gargoyles was known for the darker tone and serious subject matters it addressed. Most recently, it was announced that a live-action adaptation was in early development, with legendary horror director James Wan to take on the project. Many fear that Gargoyles will receive the same lackluster live-action treatment that Disney has been producing lately. However, putting a horror director at the helm of the project might already show they intend to keep the darker undertones of the show. Even though this project is still in its infancy, fans of the legendary creatures of the night are hunting down copies of the first issue. Moreso, they are hunting down the harder-to-find newsstand copy. We tracked it at a high sale of $391 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $70. #8: BLOODSTRIKE #1 | IMAGE | 1993 | This book is the first comic book to ever use thermal-reactive ink, where readers were encouraged to rub parts of the cover to reveal the red ink (blood) splatters. However, that is not why this book is picking up heat. Last week, Rob Liefeld debuted a concept trailer on what a possible Bloodstrike film could look like. The video received tons of positive feedback as Rob shared that this proof of concept was the first step in developing a possible cinematic experience, with Phil Silvera taking the reins as director. We tracked it at a high sale of $40 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current raw VF FMV of $3. #7: MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984 | This book either ends up on the runner-ups or our top ten every week. It is an essential book for fans of the symbiote and Venom. There likely was a spike in sales that coincided with the release of the new PS5 game, Spider-Man 2, which sees Venom take one of the villain spotlights. The symbiote plays a critical part in the storyline… However, we won't give away spoilers here! We tracked it at a high sale of $650 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw VF FMV of $121. #6: THE OMEGA MEN #3 | DC | 1983 | Lobo has always been a fan favorite in the DC universe. This book shot up in popularity last year when it was announced that James Gunn and Peter Safran would take over the reins of DC Studios. When there were confirmations that no DCEU actors would return to the new cinematic universe, rumors began circulating that Jason Mamoa could be recast as Lobo. This is enough to keep the book on the hot list! We tracked it at a high sale of $390 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $78. #5: RANGER STRANGER #1 – TYLER JENSEN – REGULAR | SCOUT COMICS | 2023 | For the most part, most casual comic book collectors have never heard of the indie book RANGER STRANGER. However, a couple of weeks ago, Kevin Hart's production company, HartBeat, signed up to develop the series into an adult animated television show. Queue the race to acquire a copy of this first issue. After this initial bump in popularity, sales have started to slow down. It will likely pick up again after we get more information from Kevin Hart or Scout Comics. We tracked it at a high sale of $12 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $12. #4: AMERICAN PSYCHO #1 – RANDALL BRUDER – BUSINESS CARD (1:10) | MASSIVE | 2023 | American Psycho is one of the most recognizable slasher films and deserves fantastic comic book covers'—queue Randall Bruder, who illustrated the infamous "business card" variant. While the foil NYCC exclusive is going for an astronomical price, fans are taking the opportunity to get a cheaper copy through the 1:10 retailer incentive variant. However, this book is not an easy pick-up either. It has been increasing in both desirability and monetary value. For those collecting the business card variants, be on the lookout for issues #2 and #3. It has been reported that these books will also have open-order business card covers. We tracked it at a high sale of $71 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $49. #3: DUKE #1 – ASHCAN – COBRA COMMANDER – 2023 NYCC – EBAY – SPOT FOIL (LIMITED 1000) | IMAGE | 2023 | *SPOILERS* | The debut of a shared universe between Transformers and G.I. Joe sent waves across the comic community. IMAGE has since been putting work into the Energon universe and has debuted old/new characters. Duke is one of the most popular characters in the franchise. It saw another spike during last week's exclusive Kirkham cover, nicknamed Blood Blast! This is not to be confused with his NYCC exclusive cover, which featured a virgin green cover with the same artwork. Instead, this book is a trade cover with a red background. It was limited to a 3000 print run, and copies immediately hit the aftermarket. For fans of Tyler Kirkham, this book is an excellent piece with a decent price tag, unlike its NYCC counterpart, which currently sells for nearly double. We tracked it at a high sale of $25 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $19. #1: DAZZLER #1 | MARVEL | 1981 | The Taylor Swift rumor that she would appear in Deadpool 3 as Dazzler continues to burn strong. While there haven't been any additional rumors, Swift's highly successful music tour and media appearances have kept this book hot. Even though X-MEN #130 is the first appearance of the mutant, the price difference has left that book in the runner-ups. Fans have opted to collect the first solo series of the Dazzler, a much more friendly price point for collectors. We tracked it at a high sale of $252 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $23.
